Defensive Skills: Sighting Methods
December 8, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The second class in our rotating series is Sighting Methods. Instinctive, front sight/flash sight, and fully aimed shots are all necessary skills for defensive shooting. In this class we will learn how to perform each style of aiming AND learn how to identify which method is appropriate for a variety of situations.
Defensive Shooting is for newer shooters who have already learned the basics of handgun operation and are interested in defensive-focused skills. These classes (1 hour in class and 1 hour of live-fire drills) cover a specific area each month, rotating through topics you need to reliably use a firearm. Topics are:
- Situational awareness and threat assessment
- Sighting methods
- Multiple shots on target
- Scanning and assessing
For this class you will need:
- A handgun with which YOU ARE PROFICIENT
- Two magazines
- Approximately 100 rounds of ammunition
PREREQUISITE: THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER CLASS. You must be PROFICIENT (able to put 5 consecutive shots within a 5” target at 5 yards); PRACTICED within the last month; and SAFE (know and follow all indoor range firearm safety rules).
